Celtrino is Ireland’s largest provider of cloud based EDI and related business workflow services processing millions of invoices worth billions of Euro through our platform each year. We provide services to a diverse number of sectors including FMCG, retail, entertainment, pharma, agricultural, government and finance and also provide suppliers to government bodies with an access point that is now part of public sector digital procurement.


Role Summary

Based in Dublin and reporting into the General Manager, the newly created role of CTO will make all executive decisions with regards to the technological interests of the company. They are responsible for outlining the company’s technological vision, implementing technology strategies, and ensuring that the technological resources are aligned with the company’s business needs.

The CTO will build out a team of engineers focused on building software at scale and will have previous experience in doing so.  The role requires a strong balance between developing and working on the latest technologies while also maintaining current technologies as they transition across to the next generation tech.

Objectives and Responsibilities

Strategic Planning and Delivery:

  • Develop technical aspects of the company’s strategy to ensure alignment with its business goals
  • Discover and implement new technologies that yield competitive advantage
  • Communicate technology strategy to partners and investors
  • Setting a vision for how technology will be used in the company
  • Ensure that the technological resources meet the company’s short and long-term needs
  • Monitor KPIs and IT budgets to assess technological performance
  • Lead system infrastructure to ensure functionality and efficiency
  • Build quality assurance and data protection processes
  • Creating timelines for the development and deployment of all technological services
  • Make executive decisions on behalf of the company’s technological requirements
  • Manage technology budgets and time frames

Technology Research & Development:

  • Maintain a consumer-focused outlook and aid in the delivery of IT projects to market
  • Outline the goals for research and development
  • Stay on top of technology trends and developments

Customer Focus:

  • Ensure all technology practices adhere to regulatory standards
  • Ensure the future of the platform and its architecture is the best in class
  • Use stakeholders’ feedback to inform necessary improvements and adjustments to technology

Team and Colleagues:

  • Instil accountability, autonomy and empowerment within your teams and manage the appropriate boundaries to achieve the result of having self-directed work teams
  • Set clear goals for your team and monitor progress
  • Review the performance of individual team members and provide effective coaching for improvement
  • Drive the recruitment process for new team members
  • As the technical authority for your team, ensure that the design architecture of the services being implemented are scalable, testable and meet customer requirements
  • Stay abreast of the tools and technologies that the team are using so you can provide help and advice on technical difficulties that arise

Qualifications and Experience

Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field. MBA preferred.
8 years’ experience in a senior managerial role for a software development team in an agile environment
Proven experience as a CTO or similar leadership role
Advanced technological skill set and a demonstrated history with technology
Ability to delegate efficiently
Extensive industry knowledge with an eye towards the future
Experience working with onsite and remote teams is key for this role
Analytical / problem solving skills analysing complex systems
Communicate complex concepts to non-technical business partners
An excellent leader with strong motivational and communication skills
Knowledge of technological trends to build strategy
Understanding of budgets and business planning
Ability to conduct technological analyses and research
Excellent communication skills
Leadership and organizational abilities
Strategic thinking
